Wire Wrapping Tutorials

Over the years I have learned a lot about wire wrapping.  Some from free tutorials and some from just looking at photos, reverse engineering and a lot of trial and error.  One thing I have found is that I enjoy teaching others the passion for constructing jewellery so I have put together wire wrapping technique tutorials for you to use for free.  I do not own the wrap designs, I did not invent them, but I did figure out how to do them on my own.  All photos and instructions in these tutorials are my own notes and work.

Please note that while I give the instructions to you for free, please do not teach classes with my instructions.  An affordable teaching license can be purchased by contacting me at amanda@web4business.com.au

General Notes

Eight pages filled with notes on wire properties, work hardening, wire shapes and wire manipulation tips.  This document contains all of the information that would have been repeated in all of the tutorials and is a companion reference guide.

Coil - Beginner

A simple technique to create a coil on a core wire.

Double Core Coil - Beginner

A simple technique using a figure 8 motion to create a stunning weave that offers a lot of different options when designing a piece.  Suitable to use as a decorative bail.

X-Wrap - Beginner

This technique is the same as the double core coil but with space between the core wires.  Very pretty and perfect for decorating open spaces and bails.

Coiled Coil Bead - Coiled Wire Bead - Intermediate

A complicated looking weave that helps hide all sorts of things in a piece.  It can be made in thicker wire as a bead.

Basketweave - Intermediate

This weave is a stunning technique that allows a tidy means of transferring wire from one side of a project to the other.  It can also make a great ring shank with thick core wires.
