JasmineRoccaBaby Must Haves

Jasmine Rocca started Babymusthaves.net after repeatedly being asked by expectant mums what products worked for her and what didn’t. She put together a little blog on some of her favourite baby products and it really grew from there.

Here is what Jasmine shared about running her business:

Q. How long have you been in business?

I’ve been in business for 3 years now. I started my first business when I went on maternity leave with my first child.

Q. What did you do before you started this business?

Before having my own business I worked in administration at an engineering firm.

Q. Who are your main customers and why do you enjoy working with them ?

My main customers are mums who have started businesses. I love working with like minded people and helping their business grow. I love the excitement and passion they have for their business !

Q. Did you have any business training before you started ?

I don’t have any training in websites, marketing or business but I read a lot and I have learned a lot through trial and error. I study my competitors and find what’s working and what’s not.

Q. Describe your business and products/services you offer

Babymusthaves.net is a group of mums who review and advertise products. We are quite different because we broadcast our reviews to YouTube aswell as our blog, Facebook and Instagram. Our service is free and our reviews are honest. We love anything Eco friendly and natural!

Q. How many hours a week do you work in your business?

I work about 30hrs a week on the business when you include social media marketing.

Q. What kind of online and offline marketing do you do and which is working for you?

All the marketing I do is online besides word of mouth. I use Facebook and Instagram to run giveaways and engage followers. I am a part of some amazing mummy business groups on Facebook and we all help each other out a lot. I used to send out a lot of emails to businesses but most of our clients contact us now because of word of mouth.

Q. Do you use social media as part of your marketing?

We use most forms of social media for matketing- twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube.

Q. What mistakes have you made in running your business and what lessons have you learnt from those?

So far in this business I haven’t had any mistakes. In previous businesses I’ve sold myself short by not charging enough or doing favours for friends. My biggest issue at the moment is making sure the kids and hubby have enough of my time. The work/life balance is a tricky one!

Q. What obstacles or challenges do your small business clients face most often?

The biggest challenge my clients face is getting their brand out there I think. They have brilliant products that mums and bubs can really benefit from but just need some marketing guidance.

Q. Any other tips you would like to share about running a small business?

If you’re thinking of starting a business spend a day researching it. If it still seems like the right business don’t hesitate – go for it!
