The Top New Financial Year Resolution That Will Improve Your Business

Financial Year Resolution

Surprise, the most effective new financial year resolution is not financial at all!

It is to plan what you aim to achieve in your business during the year, set goals and work out how you will achieve them. Of course, some of these will be financial but not all.

In the modern world, some will relate to technology for most businesses. Even if you are working in a business where technology is not directly part of what you do, you most likely depend on a mobile phone and may use the internet or social media for marketing. Just think back to the last time you had something repaired. Did the tradespeople carry mobile phones? I’m sure they did.

Technology planning

So what is technology planning? What should you do?

Consider what you do, what is working well and what needs to change.

1. Do you need something new? Computer, phone, printer, monitor, mobile device?

2. Do the things you use work well together? If not, what needs to be done?

3. Is your data being backed up ? Don’t just copy to cloud storage and forget about it. If you consider you are too small to have a server and full backup regime, at least keep two copies in different places.

4. What can go wrong and what can you do about it? Ensure you have taken security precautions such as keeping all devices up to date with recommended software updates and securing any wireless network you use. What if the power fails ? Or your internet?

So what are YOUR plans?

How does all this relate to your business? Are you going to do a formal plan or have a think and make some changes?
I would love to hear from you and find out if you made any technology resolutions.
