I have always had a passion for gorgeous paper products and wanted to work and design products for myself, working to my own goals and design briefs.
Q. What did you do before you started this business?
I commenced my career designing ceramics and home-wares for Australia’s large department stores and after that I moved on and designed digital artworks on canvas and perspex. My next opportunity was to be the advertising ‘Art Director’ for ‘Australian Gourmet Traveller’ magazine.

20 – 40 hours a week, depending on incoming business.

We exhibit at Kids Instyle which is a trade event that helps us to find new wholesale clients. We also find social media is great for exposure, anything from blog mentions to giveaways.
Q. Do you use social media as part of your marketing?
Yes, Facebook has really helped us to grow our business as we find a lot of our clients have found us via Facebook.
Q. What mistakes have you made in running your business and what lessons have you learnt from those?
Supplying goods and services to wholesale clients on full credit and never getting paid for those goods.
Q. How has your website helped you run your business?
Our online store is like our shop front, it has helped us obtain wholesale clients in USA, Canada, South Africa, Singapore, Switzerland, UK, Greece, France and Germany without having to actually visit each country.
Q. What obstacles or challenges are you facing at the moment?
Companies overseas copying our designs and claiming them as their own. We have even had companies steal our images and use them on their own website.
Q. Any other comments / points you would like to share about running your business?
Running your own business is much harder than working for some on else, it demands a lot of time. But watching your business grow and flourish is very rewarding and empowering.
