After nearly 30 years in the Nail Industry, Trish Rock sold everything and started a new career, moved state and began again. She studied online business, internet, online marketing, product creation and everything online. She became a mentor in the Nail Industry, creating a patented 5 step system for client attraction, as well as publishing 2 n=books on marketing and business in salons.
In 2011 Trish was introduced to Mobile Apps and she loved the whole concept and strategy so much she decided to start her business and help entrepreneurs with the overwhelm of being time poor and cash poor, through mobile marketing strategies.
This is what Trish shared about running her business.
Q. What did you do before you started this business?
I was in the Nail Industry for around 30 years. Owning several successful businesses, running a training school, judging and competing at competition level (and was Australian champion one year).
At the end of 2009 I got out from ‘behind the table’ and studied online business.
Q. Did you have any business training before you started?
Yes, I have been in business since I was 24 however I did have to train to develop apps and work an online business successfully.
Q. Describe your business and products/services you offer
I have a simplified, affordable solution for business owners who are overwhelmed and time poor, that builds customer relationships, loyalty and lead generation as well as enable sales 24/7.
With a mobile app strategy in place, business is in front of their customers- who are mobile.

Q. How long have you been running your business?
Q. How many hours a week do you work in your business?
Q. What kind of online and offline marketing do you do and which is working for you?
Offline I use a lot of networking and this works really well for me and my business.
Online I use website, blogs/articles and video (youtube channel) as well as social media sites. I find that facebook has given me a presence and I gain referral there as I have build relationships but LinkedIn is more professional and is fast becoming a better place to have a presence.
Q. Do you use social media as part of your marketing?
Yes, Facebook, LinkedIn, Youtube and Google+
Q. What mistakes have you made in running your business and what lessons have you learnt from those?
Losing focus is definitely something I have learnt not to do! I have also made many mistakes when it comes to the financial side of a business and the foundational grounding of it.
I advise any business owner to get the basics in order before your turnover and database grow. Get systems in place (still working on that!) and have everything running smoothly- whether you are there or not.
Q. How has your website helped you run your business?
Having an online presence is vital. This is where people are. This is where they will often ‘meet’ you for the first time and this is where they will decide to go further or not with interacting with your business.
Q. What obstacles or challenges are you facing at the moment?
At the moment, my most challenging business question or solution is to find better and more productive ways to increase my sales funnel and lead generation.
I am also hiring an outsource team and that has many challenges which I am now finding solutions for.
Q. Any other comments / points you would like to share about running your business?
I believe everyone in business has a passion for what they do. Often we get so caught up IN the business rather than working ON the business that we lose sight of our initial drawing to it. I would suggest that as a business owner, you need to step back every now and then and look at your business from an outside perspective. It will give you a lot of clarity, ideas and a fresh look.
