ChatGPT Confession #016 – I Realised Someone Using ChatGPT Could Work Faster Than Me (and What It Meant for My Business)
I was sitting in a Tony Robbins and Dean Graziosi AI seminar, listening to everyone talk about how they’re using AI in their businesses. Content creation, faster delivery, quicker turnaround, and everyone sounding very relaxed about it, like this is just how things are done now.
And somewhere in the middle of all that, I had a slightly uncomfortable thought. Someone in that room, using ChatGPT properly, could probably get through their work faster than me. Not by a little bit either, but enough to make a noticeable difference in how quickly things get done.
That Quiet “Oh…” Moment
I didn’t panic. I just sat there thinking… right, that’s something I need to pay attention to.
Because speed changes things. When someone can write faster, respond quicker, and deliver work sooner, it starts to shift expectations, even if nobody is saying it directly.
And yes, the next thought isn’t far behind. If it takes less time, people start wondering what it should cost. That’s where things get interesting, because time and value don’t always line up the way people think they do.
Where This Could Have Gone Sideways
This is usually the part where people start spiralling. AI is faster, therefore everyone else has an advantage, therefore everything needs to change immediately.
I didn’t go there. Mainly because I know what actually goes into building a website, and it has very little to do with how quickly you can generate a block of text.
There’s messaging, structure, flow, and a whole layer of decisions that sit underneath what people see. None of that appears just because you opened ChatGPT and asked for some copy.
What AI Actually Does (When You Use It Properly)
ChatGPT is very good at helping you move. It gets you past the blank page, helps you organise your thoughts, and gives you something to work with instead of starting from zero.
That’s where ChatGPT problem solving becomes genuinely useful. It removes the friction that normally slows you down and lets you get to a first version quickly.
What it follows is your direction. If you know what you’re doing, it speeds you up. If you don’t, it just helps you get to the wrong place faster.
The Bit That Made Me Smile Slightly
There’s a very specific type of confidence that comes from using AI without really understanding what you’re doing. You’ve probably seen it already.
Things get produced quickly, they look polished enough on the surface, and there’s a strong sense that everything is “done.” Then you look a little closer and realise something isn’t quite right.
That’s not an AI problem. That’s a thinking problem, and AI just happens to make it more obvious.
What This Meant for My Business
This wasn’t a dramatic shift. It was more like adjusting how I approach the work I’m already doing.
I can use AI to speed up parts of the process, especially drafting, structuring, and working through ideas. That gives me more space to focus on the parts that actually make the difference, which is the thinking behind it.
And if I’m being honest, it does make me feel a bit smarter. Not because I suddenly know more, but because I’m not wasting time getting stuck on things that don’t need to take that long.
What ChatGPT Helped Me See Clearly
This isn’t about competing on speed alone. It’s about understanding where speed helps and where it doesn’t.
AI productivity in small business changes how quickly things can be done, but it doesn’t replace knowing what should be done in the first place.

The Prompt That Started It
I asked a question that had been sitting in the back of my mind for a while. It was one of those thoughts you notice and then ignore until it becomes harder to ignore.
The prompt I used was: If someone is using ChatGPT effectively in their business, how does that change how fast they can work, and what does that mean for someone who isn’t using it?
That question didn’t give me a neat answer. It just made the shift impossible to ignore.
What This Means If You’re Running a Business
If you’re not using AI tools at all, things will take longer. That’s just how it is now.
If you’re using AI without understanding your business properly, you might move faster, but that doesn’t automatically improve the outcome. It just increases output.
The real advantage sits with people who understand what they’re doing and use AI to remove the unnecessary friction around it.

The Bigger Shift
This isn’t going anywhere. Expectations around speed are already changing, and that will continue whether we like it or not.
The opportunity isn’t in trying to be the fastest person in the room. It’s in knowing when speed helps and when your experience is the thing that actually matters.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can someone really work faster than me just by using ChatGPT?
Yes, especially for tasks like writing, structuring ideas, and responding to clients. ChatGPT removes a lot of the starting friction, so work that used to take hours can often be done much faster. The difference becomes noticeable when someone knows how to guide it properly.
Does using ChatGPT mean I should lower my prices?
Faster work doesn’t automatically mean lower value. Clients are paying for outcomes, clarity, and results, not just the time it takes to produce something. If AI helps you deliver a better result more efficiently, that strengthens your position rather than weakens it.
What parts of my work can ChatGPT actually speed up?
It’s particularly effective for drafting content, brainstorming ideas, structuring pages, and working through problems. It helps you move past the blank page and gives you something to refine instead of starting from zero. That’s where most of the time savings come from.
What can’t ChatGPT do when it comes to websites or business work?
It doesn’t understand your audience, your positioning, or how to structure something for conversion unless you guide it. It will follow your direction, even if that direction isn’t quite right. That’s why experience and judgment still matter.
Will AI replace website designers or people in my industry?
AI supports the work, it doesn’t replace the thinking behind it. People who understand strategy, messaging, and structure will still be needed to guide the outcome. The gap becomes more obvious between those who know what they’re doing and those who are guessing.
What’s the biggest mistake people make when using ChatGPT for business?
They assume it will do the thinking for them. If the input is vague or misaligned, the output will be too. The tool is only as useful as the direction it’s given.
How do I start using ChatGPT without overcomplicating it?
Start with something real, not theoretical. Take a task you already do, describe it clearly, and ask ChatGPT to help you work through it. You don’t need a perfect prompt, you just need a clear explanation of what you’re trying to do.
How do I stay competitive if others are using AI and I’m not?
Start using it in small ways that support your existing workflow. You don’t need to overhaul everything overnight. Even small improvements in speed and clarity can make a noticeable difference over time.

The end result? Professional, custom-made sites that give your business the extra oomph it needs to stand out from the competition and make an impact.
